Sean’s first recollection of creating art dates to early childhood, shortly after he was adopted. He would go to work with his father and was given pads of paper to amuse himself with. Using anything available - pens, pencils, crayons - he would finish off several pads a day with his drawings. As is often the case with intelligent and creative individuals, his school grades were often low while his test scores were high. Sean found himself banished to his room on a regular basis. This of course only gave him plenty of time to work on and develop his illustrations and artistic projects. Growing up, there were only two things he had ever considered doing for a living: being an artist...or a veterinarian. It’s not terribly surprising that being an artist prevailed because even in grade school he was getting paid for his drawings in the form of mechanical pencils and volcanic crystals by a fellow classmate (otherwise known as “the kid with the cool stuff.”) In high school, his illustrations graced the school and local newspapers. Sean originally wanted to illustrate comic books and then moved on to a larger interest in animation, which he still pursues. One can easily see the influence of animation in the digital works he shows here and in the countless other pieces in his expanding portfolio. Any given piece has its own concept, design and color scheme, making it highly suitable as a design setting for animation. Using the principles of creative design together with any form of media that inspires, Sean does not claim to have a signature style, nor is he interested in being boxed into any particular category. Nonetheless, those who are familiar with his work agree that it has certain unique distinguishing elements. He is capable of creating a highly multi-dimensional effect on what is often a flat surface. Sean's work displays an original visual interpretation of the energetic properties of objects, people, places and environments. Since displaying his pieces on the streets of Soho in New York City, his popularity with the public has broadened. Consistant street sales have encouraged him. He continues to be prolific in his creations and is also available for commissioned pieces.
